By exploring the integration of omics data and advanced computational techniques, this article illuminates the promising avenues for leveraging metabolic modelling to ensure the safety and sustainability of the global food supply chain.

Introduction

In the intricate web of food microbiology, understanding the metabolic intricacies of microorganisms holds the key to ensuring food safety and quality. Metabolic models, a sophisticated amalgamation of computational techniques and biological insights, have emerged as indispensable tools in deciphering the complex biochemical processes governing microbial behaviour within food ecosystems.
