Food irradiation is a technology for controlling spoilage and eliminating food borne pathogens, such as Salmonella. The result is similar to conventional pasteurization and is often called "cold pasteurization" or "irradiation pasteurization". like pasteurization, irradiation kills bacteria and other pathogens.
