As simple definition Cellular Immunology is the signals through which cells of the innate immune system, involving dendritic cells and monocytes, determine the differentiation, proliferation and long-term survival of cells of the adaptive immune system. The innate immune system and the adaptive immune system each comprise both humoral and cell-mediated components. Cellular immunity protects the body through- Stimulating cells to secrete a variety of cytokines that influence the function of other cells involved in adaptive immune responses and innate immune responses. Cellular immunity is cell-mediated immunity where T cells kill the antigens directly by apoptosis process (the cells involved here are called as cytotoxic T cells) or T cells (also known as Helper T cells) get activated by antigen presenting cells (dendritic cells, macrophages etc.) which in-turn leads to release of cytokines that trigger further immune cells to come to the site of inflammation.
