TAM receptors Immunobiology

The TAM receptor protein tyrosine kinases-TYR03, AXL and MER-have pivotal roles in innate immunity. TAM receptors are fundamental inhibitors of the innate immune responses in sentinel cells of the immune system. The clearance of apoptotic cells is critical for both tissue homeostasis and the resolution of inflammation. They function as homeostatic regulators in adult tissues and oragn systems that are subject to continuous challenge and renewal throughout life. Their regulatory roles are prominent in mature immune, reproductive, haematopoietic, vascular, and nervous systems.
