Abraham (Rami) Eliakim

Professor Rami Eliakim has been Professor of Medicine at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School, where he received his medical training, graduating in 1979. He was board certified in internal medicine (Cum Laude) and in gastroenterology and Hepatology in 1985 and 1989, respectively. Professor Eliakim then obtained a research fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, USA from 1987 to 1989. He became Visiting Professor at Mount Sinai University in New York, USA in 2000. Professor Eliakim actively participates in various academic societies. From 2001 to 2004, he was President of the Israel Gastroenterological Association (IGA). He was Head of the Gastroenterology Board examinations committee (2004–2006) and Head of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) section of the IGA (2004–2007), and from 2009-2013, Head of the Advanced Technologies section of the IGA. He was a Member of the Education Committee of the European Crohn’s & Colitis Organization (ECCO) from 2009 to 2011, and head of the Guidelines Committee of this organization from 2011-13. He also joined and is a member of the Guidelines Committee of the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) from 2005.
