Research Interest
The research activity of Dr. Cristiano Garino is focused on different aspects related to the food safety and the consumer protection, such as food allergy and food traceability. Some of the past and the current activities concern the development of biomolecular methods to detect hidden allergens in commercial food matrices, the characterization of new allergens from different food sources, the assessment of the expression levels of allergens in plants and the application of molecular markers to authenticate the origin of foods.
