Design and Implementation of Vedic Multipliers Using Reversible Logic Gates

Ravi JN, Vijay Prakash AM and Madan S

DOI: 10.4172/2332-0796.1000255

Implementing the already existing circuits or new circuits using reversible logic has drawn a significant interest in recent years as a promising computing technique having application in low power CMOS, quantum computing, nanotechnology, optical computing …etc. Reversible logic gates offer significant advantages such as high speed, low power, ease of fabrication …etc. Also, circuits designed using these circuits would have better performance as compared to existing circuits. Main goals of reversible logic synthesis are to minimize the garbage, to minimize the delay, to minimize the total number of gates, to minimize the width of the circuit. In this paper, designer implemented 2 × 2 and 4 × 4 bit Vedic multipliers using reversible logic gate.

Effective Harness of Wind Energy Turbines

Ahmed Abdolkhalig, Qing Fang and Ashraf Mohamed

DOI: 10.4172/2332-0796.1000256

There are many types of renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, water and more. Electrical Energy produced by wind resource is considered the most common of renewable energy productions in many countries. As of 2015, at least 83 countries around the world are using energy that comes from wind to supply their electric grids. In 2014, global wind energy capacity expanded 16%. Yearly, wind energy production is growing rapidly and has reached around 4% of worldwide electric energy usage, 11.4% in the EU. This paper investigates the effective harnessing of electrical energy from wind energy resources and discusses various opportunities and challenges including cost effectiveness. It also investigates the impact of wind energy to industrial area and human being.

Design and Implementation of Arduino Microcontroller Based Automatic Lighting Control with I2C LCD Display

Akinwole OO and Oladimeji TT

DOI: 10.4172/2332-0796.1000258

The project uses closed loop control system to automatically operate a lighting system. It employed Light Dependent Resistor LDR to sense the illumination level and compare the measured signal with the reference voltage realized through the usage of a potentiometer forming a potential divider. It highlights how an operational amplifier can be used as a comparator. This idea was transferred into Arduino Microcontroller. The latter is used to compare the signals using Arduino programming functions. The Arduino is multitasked using millis() to sound alarm at system switch-On or Reset. An i2C is used to interface a Liquid Crystal Display with an advantage of using two analog pins A4 and A5 instead of four or eight I/O pins for four and eight LCD modes respectively. The innovation will allow those I/O pins dedicated to other tasks plus its attendant simplicity. The usage of i2C scanner in identifying i2C programming address as 0 × 3F is explained. The step by step explanation of Arduino codes is an asset. The paper recommends among others further improvement in the display interactivity through robust programming. An alarm could also be made to sound at each switch- over. It is believed that its simplicity will encourage its mass production with its attendant socio economic benefits.

Modelling and Simulation of Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors with Broken Bars

Khalid I Baradieh and Zakariya Al-Hamouz

DOI: 10.4172/2332-0796.1000259

LSPMSMs combine the high efficiency of the permanent magnet motors (PM) with the ease of use, simplicity in design and high starting ability of induction motors. Since there are a rapidly growing usage of this relatively new motor, studying its performance under fault conditions is necessary.

In this paper, a technique based on coupled magnetic circuit theory has been used in order to develop a mathematical model for LSPMSM under broken bar fault conditions. This model takes into account the rotor asymmetry due to fault in qd0 reference frame. Motor’s torque, rotor speed and stator current signatures for healthy machine (with 28 bars), machine with one, five and ten broken bars are presented under no load and full load conditions. Trends obtained are in good agreement with previously reported work.

The Aging Degree Analysis of EPR Cable Insulation Based on Hardness Retention Rate Measurement

Meng Xiao-Kai, Han Pei-Jie, Liu Xinyuan and Jin Tao

DOI: 10.4172/2332-0796.1000260

Based on the accelerated thermal aging analysis of Ethylene-Propylene Rubber (EPR) cables, the theoretical relationship between elongation at break retention rate (EAB%) and hardness retention rate was deduced from the mathematical principles of hardness test. The relation curve was compared with the measurement values, and the result shows that there is high coincidence degree between theoretical curve and measurement values. After researching on the experimental data of EAB% and hardness retention rate, combining the “time-temperature shift factors” with Arrhenius equation, the lifetime termination index on account of hardness retention rate is analyzed when the EAB% reduced to 30%-50%. According to comparing theoretical values with the experimental results, hardness retention rate decreased to 10% was proposed as the lifetime termination index of EPR cable.
