Clinical Immunology Impact Factor

Clinical immunology is the study of diseases caused by disorders of the immune system, like a failure, aberrant action, and malignant growth of the cellular elements of the system. It also involves diseases of other systems where immune reactions play a vital part in the pathology and clinical features. Clinical immunology has developed very significantly as a specialty over almost the last twenty years, as having an understanding of the immunological basis of many diseases and the development of immunological therapies. Certainly, it is difficult to think of a specialty that has not developed an immunological dimension at this time. Immune hypersensitivity mechanisms play a part in many disorders of occupational medicine. A simple appreciation of the components and physiology of normal immunity is essential to the understanding of the pathophysiology of hypersensitivity diseases of the immune system. An abnormal, exaggerated immune response can cause hypersensitivity to foreign antigens, resulting in tissue injury and the expression of a variety of clinical syndromes which are seen in the practice of occupational medicine.
