Antibiotic Production

Antibiotic production is done by the batch process. It can be grouped into three methods: natural fermentation, semi-synthetic, and synthetic. As an ever-increasing number of microorganisms continue to develop resistance to currently produced antibiotics, research and development of new antibiotics keeps on being significant. A few antibiotics are produced by chemical synthesis i.e.  quinolone and metronidazole. There is only one choice for the anti-microbial creation process—the synthesis of benzylpenicillin. Benzylpenicillin is the most renowned antibiotic and is universally prescribed. Although initially made by surface liquid culture, penicillin G is now produced by air-lift fermentation under aerated conditions. Microprocessors and computers are now having important effects on the control of the fermenter aspects of antibiotic production. Actinomycetes are a diverse family of filamentous bacteria that produce a plenty of natural products relevant for agriculture, biotechnology and medicine, including most of the antibiotics we use in the clinic.
