An Operating System (OS) is a computer user-hardware interface. An operating system is software that performs all essential tasks such as file management, process management, input and output handling, memory management and controlling peripheral devices such as printers and disk drives. Windows Operating System, Linux Operating System, VMS, OS/400, AIX, z / OS, etc., are some common operating systems. An operating system is a program that controls the execution of all sorts of programs. The operating system serves as an intermediary between the programs and the computer hardware for hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation.
