Microbial Growth describes us regarding the microbe growth pattern in a fermenter. This factor has its own importance in determining the best time of batch recovery for product. A typical microbial growth curve is described based on typical batch type fermentation that includes the Lag phase, Exponential or Logarithmic phase, Stationary or Static phase and Decline or Death phase. During Lag phase, there is no growth or very minimal growth of microbe in the fermenter.  In Exponential or Logarithmic phase, inoculum get adjust to the environment, hence we observe fast growth of microbes due to fast division of inoculum. In this phase we determine the highest growth rate and rapid uptake and utilization of nutrients.  In Static or Stationary Phase, the growth of microbial population decreases and an equilibrium state is achieved with the number of cells dividing and number of cells dying.
