Circuit Breakers.

A circuit breaker is an electrical switch that is automatically operated to protect an electrical circuit against damage from overloading or short circuiting caused by excess current. Its core function is to interrupt current flow once a fault has been detected. Unlike a fuse, which has to be replaced once and then, a circuit breaker can be reset to restore normal service. Circuit breakers are made in various sizes, from small devices that protect low-current circuits or individual household appliances to large switchgear designed to protect high-voltage circuits that feed a whole region. The generic feature of a circuit breaker or fuse is often abbreviated as an automated means of power removal from a defective device. A circuit breaker is a switching system interrupting the current of an irregular or fault. It is a mechanical system that perturbs the high magnitude (fault) current flow and performs a transfer feature in addition. The circuit breaker is designed primarily to close or open an electrical circuit and thus protects the electrical system from damage.
