Abstract :

Pigmentary disorders, including melasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and vitiligo, present significant therapeutic challenges, particularly in individuals with darker skin phototypes. This presentation reviews recent advances in understanding pigmentation biology, melanocyte regulation, and the molecular pathways involved in skin discoloration. Innovations in diagnostic imaging and artificial intelligence are improving disease assessment and treatment monitoring.

The session discusses evidence-based use of lasers, chemical peels, topical depigmenting agents, microneedling, platelet-rich plasma, and combination therapies for pigmentary disorders and facial rejuvenation. Emerging cosmeceutical ingredients, antioxidant formulations, and personalized skincare approaches are improving clinical outcomes. Future developments include regenerative dermatology, precision aesthetics, and AI-assisted cosmetic treatment planning.

Biography :

Professor Rashmi Sarkar is Professor of Dermatology at Maulana Azad Medical College, India. Her research focuses on pigmentary disorders, cosmetic dermatology, lasers, dermatosurgery, and evidence-based aesthetic medicine. She is widely recognized for her contributions to dermatology, particularly in skin of color.
