Dermatosis in the neonatal period is a very common and important cause of parental anxiety in search of a pediatric consultation. The majority of neonatal skin lesions are generally physiological, transient and self-limited, while only pathological ones require treatment. However, it is important to identify and diagnose them correctly in order to avoid unnecessary diagnostic or therapeutic interventions. Few lesions can be the cutaneous manifestation of a potentially fatal systemic state, so early diagnosis of pathological neonatal dermatosis helps initiate specific treatment early. The objectives of the study were to determine the common dermatosis in newborns (both physiological and pathological) within 7 days of the life of rural and suburban areas attending an OPD / pediatric vaccination and delivered in our institute. Skin lesions are very common in the neonatal period. Most of the skin lesions of this period are innocent and transient, but pathological lesions are not very rare, especially in our environments where hygienic conditions are not very healthy. Thus, any skin lesion during this period must be carefully examined and differentiated from more serious skin conditions in order to avoid unnecessary treatment for newborns and to reassure parents about the good prognosis of these skin manifestations.
