Biography

Dr. Karaoz was born in 1963 in Izmir/TURKEY. After graduation from Dicle University in 1986, he received his Ph.D. degree in Histology&Embryology at Gazi University in 1994. In the mean time, he was occupied as Specialist in Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) between 1989-1996. In his early academic career, he lectured in Histology&Embryology Department at Suleyman Demirel University (Isparta/TURKEY) and in Health School at Kocaeli University (Kocaeli/TURKEY). He established the Center for Stem Cell and Gene Therapies Research and Application (SCGTR) in 2006 in Kocaeli University. He has been since the director of the research center and the head of the Stem Cells Department since its opening in 2010. Throughout his academic carrier he has bagged many awards and citations. Dr. Karaoz has more than 9 research papers on stem cells published in different scientific journals. His main interests are tissue regeneration and immune suppression by stem cells and diabetes.
