Menopause is associated with a constellation of physical changes. Some of these changes are directly attributable to the loss of estrogen, including hot flashes, bone demineralization and vaginal dryness. Perimenopause is the first stage in this process and can start eight to 10 years before menopause. Perimenopause symptoms vary from woman to woman. Menstrual irregularity i.e.; irregular periods is a regular symptom that women may face during perimenopause. Menopause is the point when a woman no longer has menstrual periods for at least one year. Postmenopause is the stage after menopause. There are several health complications associated with postmenopause. To stay healthy in this new phase of life, it’s important to know about these conditions and engage in ways to reduce your risk. Understanding the effects that postmenopause may have on your body can benefit you take steps to preserve good health no matter what your age is.
