Fisheries Environmental Future

Fishes play a crucial role within the balance of life on which we rely. Fish are essential to life within the world’s oceans. They’re the predators or prey of virtually every creature that swims with them or flies above the ocean. Fisheries Environmental Innovations explain the strategy in new advancements of fisheries science. Throughout the course of human history the oceans are considered common property, and fishers have normally been liberal to fish with few restrictions. The challenge of achieving sustainability in fisheries requires consideration of ecological, social and economic components.

As with other sectors, research in fisheries is closely linked to policy processes as outlined in section 2.1.2. Involvement of the general public sector in research in fisheries has been justified during a number of ways: the shared resources and diverse and competing interests; the existence of social objectives which can't be met by the market; the cost-effectiveness of centralised research institutes; the time and risk elements of return on research investment; and also the lack of opportunity for personal sector property rights within the results of research

This journal provides a world forum for the publication of papers within the areas of fisheries science, fishing technology, fisheries management and relevant socio-economics. The scope covers fisheries in salt, brackish and freshwater systems, and every one aspects of associated ecology, environmental aspects of fisheries, and economics. The journal is meant for fisheries scientists, biological oceanographers, gear technologists, economists, managers, administrators, policy makers and legislators.
