Fishes play a crucial role within the balance of life on which we rely. Fish are essential to life within the world’s oceans. They’re the predators or prey of virtually every creature that swims with them or flies above the ocean. Fisheries Environmental Innovations explain the strategy in new advancements of fisheries science. Throughout the course of human history the oceans are considered common property, and fishers have normally been liberal to fish with few restrictions. The challenge of achieving sustainability in fisheries requires consideration of ecological, social and economic components.
As with other sectors, research in fisheries is closely linked to policy processes as outlined in section 2.1.2. This journal provides a world forum for the publication of papers within the areas of fisheries science, fishing technology, fisheries management and relevant socio-economics. The scope covers fisheries in salt, brackish and freshwater systems, and every one aspects of associated ecology, environmental aspects of fisheries, and economics. The journal is meant for fisheries scientists, biological oceanographers, gear technologists, economists, managers, administrators, policy makers and legislators.
