Effect Of Tobacco On Public Health

Tobacco is the only consumer product that, when used according to its manufacturers' recommendations, ultimately kills half of its regular users. Smoking is the best known preventable cause of death in many countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) attributes 4.9 million deaths a year to smoking, a figure that is expected to reach more than 10 million by 2030 if no action is taken.
