Dyspepsia is one of the most frequent functional gastrointestinal disorders. Initial interpretation should focus on the recognition and treatment of potential causes of symptoms such as peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and medication side effects but also on identifying those at risk for more critical conditions such as gastric cancer. None of the available therapies is adequate in the majority of patients without being related with major side effects. Developing new medical care options is challenging due to the heterogeneity of functional dyspepsia, the shortage of readily identified target mechanisms and the poor federation between path physiological disturbances and symptoms. The extension of diagnostic testing like pH impedance manometry is the present common diagnostic tests might have more helpful in distinguishing between functional dyspepsia and reflux disease.
