The Antiretrovirals Journals paves the way for antiviral medications, compounds and therapeutic methods to be identified and formulated to prevent viral infections. Importantly, this offers the ability to educate antiviral drug and therapy researchers, physicians and those working in the area. It Is a widely recognized journal for antiviral and antiretroviral research scientists interested in scientific, applied, and clinical aspects. Most viruses are known to appear and re-emerge, affecting both animal and human populations. Zoonotic viruses can cause substantial morbidity and mortality; however, there are only a small number of preventive vaccines that provide safety. The main current therapeutic approach to viral diseases is to target components of the virus which are necessary for replication. There are a number of drawbacks to viral components, including the limited number of druggable viral targets, because viruses have a small genome, and the rapid development of drug resistance. New drug therapies combine antivirals to improve potency and to prevent drug-resistant strains from forming. Both strategies are effective for viruses such as HIV but obviously our drug arsenal needs to be expanded to tackle the wide variety of viruses.
