Acupuncture, which involves inserting needles at different points in the body to stimulate the so-called acupuncture points, is one of the most widely used forms of alternative medicine in the country and is offered by many hospitals. Most often, the treatment is sought by adults seeking relief from chronic pain, although it is also used with increasing frequency in children. According to government estimates, about 150,000 children in the United States underwent acupuncture in 2007. But despite its popularity, questions about its effectiveness have long been common. Scholarly journal is a peer-reviewed journal in which studies on a particular academic discipline are published. The scholarly journals serve as forums for the introduction and presentation for the review of new research and the critique of existing research. Content is usually in the form of articles presenting original research, review articles and book reviews.
