Biography

The impact of gene silencing in modern biology and molecular medicine, particularly in post genomic era, is so obvious that it came to a fore-line with blazing lights within few steps of its journey. It is empowered with lot more killer instincts than any other surprises in biology. As a matter of fact, it defeats all technologies with a comfortable gap and received desirable noble prize at the quickest time. My research group is very fortunate that we have been working on gene silencing since its discovery in animals, as a pioneer contributor. In RNAi technology, one can silence or knock down any gene at any particular time point in a specific set of cells by simply introducing small modified RNA (smRNA). Our group is working on three major areas of RNAi

Research Interest

(1) To understand the complete mechanism of gene silencing and its influence on various important biochemical pathways.

(2) How we can easily control life threatening animal and plant viruses using gene silencing.

(3) A possible interrelationship between RNA, gene silencing, chromatin remodeling and epigenetic regulation
