Abstract :

Matthias I Okoye is the Director of Nebraska Institute of Forensic Sciences, Inc. (NIFS), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. He is a practicing physician and lawyer. He was nominated as one of the top 50 minority scientists in USA. in 2005. He is a board certified forensic pathologist and toxicologist. He was formerly the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. He is a Clinical Professor of Forensic Medicine and Pathology at Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Missouri and Adjunct Professor of forensic sciences at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska and Albany State University, Albany, Georgia. He is a visiting Professor of forensic sciences at several universities abroad. He has published and lectured extensively in forensic medicine and pathology, forensic sciences, and legal medicine. He is the Secretary of the American Board of Legal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Pathologists and a delegate at the International Academy of Legal Medicine. He is also the recipient of the Distinguished International Forensic Scientist Award from the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at University of New Haven Connecticut in 2013.
