Abstract

2019 novel coronavirus (Covid 19) is a virus which may infect humans and causes pandemics in humans. There is no definitive treatment regimen for coronavirus and it may be fatal . A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. Most coronaviruses aren't dangerous. In early 2020, after a December 2019 outbreak in China, the World Health Organization identified SARS-CoV-2 as a new type of coronavirus. The outbreak quickly spread around the world.

Dear Editor,

2019 novel coronavirus (Covid 19) is a virus which may infect humans and causes pandemics in humans. There is no definitive treatment regimen for coronavirus and it may be fatal [1].

Currently, we have 15 patients admitted in our clinic as prediagnosed with novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection. The common complaints of these patients were fever and fatigue. Peripherally located ground glass densities in the lower pulmonary lobes compatibly with 2019- nCoV were encountered in the thoracic CT imagings of the patients. Nasopharyngeal swab specimens were taken from all the patients. We collected nasopharyngeal swab specimens and tested using the Covid 19 Real-Time PCR kit to detect virus. All the laboratory tests were conducted by Kocaeli Provincial Health Directorate Central Public Health Laboratory. Until the present time, 6 patients tested positive for coronavirus. The test results of the other patients are awaited.

COPD, type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism are present in 1, 1 and 1 of our patients, respectively. The ages of 2 patients are below 60 years while other patients aged below 40 years. All the patients were administered oseltamivir tablets (2 x 75 mg per day, for 5 days), azithromycin tablets (1 x 500 mg for 1 day, 1x250 mg per day, for 4 days), hydroxychloroquine tablets (2x400 mg 1 day, 2x200 mg per day, for 4 days) in accordance with the guideline published by Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Health. A regression in the body temperatures and a clinically remarkable improvement were encountered in the patients in the second day of monitoring period. Clinical monitoring of the patients is currently ongoing. We would like to present our treatment results as a clinical study at a further date.

Best Regards,
