Sickle cell anemia is a group of disorders well known as sickle cell disease.It causes significant morbidity and mortality and affects the economic and healthcare status of many countries. Yet historically, the disease has not had commensurate outlays of funds that have been aimed at research and development of drugs and treatment procedures for other diseases. Sickle cell disease or SCD is an autosomal receding genetic condition that alters the shape and function of the hemoglobin molecule in red blood cells. The impact journal discuss the genetic, hematologic, and clinical features of SCD and describe the major associated health complications.
