Thalassemia (thal-uh-SEE-me-uh) is a hereditary blood disorder that causes less hemoglobin to your body than normal. Hemoglobin allows the oxygen to be carried by the red blood cells. Thalassemia can cause anemia and will leave you tired. If you have mild thalassemia, maybe you don't need treatment. But more serious forms could require regular transfusions of blood. You can take steps to cope with fatigue, like choosing a healthy diet and regular exercise.
