Rectal cancer refers to cancer of the rectum, which affects the lower part of the colon that connects to the anus. It is a part that stores formed stools. Causes of rectal cancer can be smoking, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, genetic alterations, family medical history, personal medical history, age. Treatment depends on the depth to which the rectal tissue has been affected, the stage of the disease, etc. Peer review refers to the work done in the selection of submitted manuscripts and funding requests. This process encourages authors to adhere to accepted standards of their discipline and reduces the dissemination of irrelevant results, unjustified claims, unacceptable interpretations and personal opinions. Publications that have not been peer reviewed are likely to be viewed with suspicion by academics and professionals.
