A Rain Gauge is an instrument to measure rainfall, which is measured in millimeters. Occasionally the rain fall is also reported in centimeters or in inches. The measuring tube measures to a hundredth inch. A standard rain gauge consists of a funnel leading to a measuring tube. A well designed rain gauge network is capable of providing accurate rainfall estimates with an optimal number of rain gauge network density.
