Osteoporotic Spine Open Access Articles

Osteoporosis is a bone metabolic disorder characterized by a progressive decrease in bone mass and bone quality, leading to bone fragility and an increased risk of fracture. Osteoporosis occurs when bone resorption exceeds bone formation during bone turnover.
The Journal of Osteoporosis and Bone Research is an open access, peer-reviewed article that provides a platform for scientists and clinicians working on the diagnosis, prevention, treatment and management of osteoporosis and other bone diseases. . The journal publishes research articles, review articles, as well as clinical studies related to the biology, physiology and pathology of bones and muscles. The newly developed vertebral osteoporotic compression fractures (OVCF) have been reported to occur at a relatively high frequency after treatment. Although there are many other possible risk factors, they have not yet been clearly established.
Patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture with low BMD T-score in the lumbar spine and those who have been treated with cement increase have an increased risk of new OVCF after treatment and, therefore, require observation and special attention.
