Inflammation is a process by which white blood cells and biochemicals protect us from infection by foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. It is the first attempt at self-protection of the body; the goal is to eliminate harmful stimuli, including pathogens, irritants, or damaged cells - and begin the healing process. Initially, it is beneficial but, sometimes, inflammation can cause new inflammation; it can become self-sustaining. More inflammation is created in response to existing inflammation. The signs and symptoms of inflammation, especially acute inflammation, show that the body is trying to heal itself. Inflammation is the body's attempt at self-protection; the goal is to eliminate harmful stimuli, including damaged cells, irritants or pathogens. Peer peer review is the process of subjecting an author's scholarly work, research, or ideas to the consideration of others who are experts in the same field, before an article describing it work is not published in a journal. The work can be accepted, considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected. Peer review requires a community of experts in a given (narrowly defined) area, who are qualified and capable of carrying out a reasonably impartial review.
