Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that affects the body's ability to control blood clotting or coagulation, that is, in which blood does not clot normally. Hemophilia is an inherited disorder that is passed from parents to offspring. Hemophilia is classified into two types of hemophilia A and hemophilia B. Hemophilia A is also known as factor VIII deficiency (FVIII) or classic hemophilia which is a genetic disease linked to recessive X involving a lack of functional coagulation factor VIII and represents 80% of hemophiliac cases. Hemophilia B is also called factor IX deficiency (FIX) or Christmas disease, which is a recessive X-linked genetic disorder involving a lack of functional coagulation factor IX. It represents approximately 20% of hemophiliac cases. Journal of Blood Disorders & Transfusion publishes articles on hemophilia that go through a rigorous peer review and revision process before being accepted for publication in order to maintain the quality and standards set for scholarly journals . This journal ensures the unimpeded distribution of its content thanks to free online access and thus contributes to improving the citations of the authors and achieving a good impact factor.
