Colostrum is a form of milk produced in the mammary glands of mammals. Colostrum is made up of antibodies that protect the newborn from infection and disease. Colostrum provides passive immunity to the newborn. Antibodies include IgA, IgG and IgM. Peer review refers to the work carried out during the pre-selection of submitted manuscripts and funding requests. This process encourages authors to adhere to accepted standards of their discipline and reduces the dissemination of irrelevant discoveries, unjustified claims, unacceptable interpretations and personal opinions. Publications that have not been peer reviewed are likely to be viewed with suspicion by academics and professionals.
