Biography

Professor Rueyan Doong has received his Ph.D in Environmental Engineering at National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 1992. Currently he is working as full professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Sciences, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Journal of Environmental Engineering and Management and Global Journal of Environmental Science and Technology. He has authored more than 100 research articles/books. He has been honored as fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany.

Research Interest

1. Biosensors and Nanosensing devices 2. Porous materials for energy storage and application 3. Environmental nanotechnology for treatment of toxic chemicals. The research interest of Dr. Doong mainly lies in the fabrication of nanomaterials with novel optical and electrochemical properties for monitoring and biosensing of chemicals in the environment as well as in human body. The development of molecular-level analytical techniques to understand the reaction kinetics and mechanisms also play a pivotal role in Dr. Doong′s group for elucidating the fate and transport of contaminants in the environments. We have successfully fabricated the ordered porous nanomaterials for diagnosis of renal function failure, cancer marker detection and diagnosis and heavy metal detection. The microstructure and chemical composition of nanomaterials have been investigated. Current researches include (1) Inter-particle electron transfer (IPET) system for photo-degradation of priority pollutants, (2) Fabrication of porous and doped 1-D nanomaterials for solar cell and lithium ion battery, and (3) Fabrication of core-shell and surface-imprinted nanoparticles as nanosensing materials for environmental and biomedical applications.
