Biography

SHADRIN,Nickolai Vasiljovich was born on 30 December 1950, Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, USSR. He graduated at Leningrad (St.-Petersburg now) State University and he did MSc in 1974 at Institute of Biology of the Southern seas, Sevastopol. He completed his PhD during 1982 to1985. Now he is working as a Senior Research scientist at Institute of Biology of the Southern seas, Sevastopol. He was a leader/co-leader of 10 international projects including TACIS-FARE, ISF, two EU INTAS, two Ukrainian-Chinese, Ukrainian-Indian, Ukrainian-Vietnamese, etc, and of many expeditions, Editor and co-editor of 9 collective scientific monographs and also Author/co-author of more than 220 scientific publications (in Russian and English). He has been Scientific Supervisor of many MSc and PhD thesis. He has given presentations in about 30 international conferences in different countries. He is Member of Editorial Board for Marine Ecological J. (Ukraine), and J. of Biosafety (China). His Hobbies are mountaineering, poetry, and photography.

General ecology, aquatic and semi-aquatic ecology, life in extreme environment, alternative steady states of ecosystems, ecosystem functioning, food webs, integrated sustainable environmental management, biological and ecological safety, evolution, etc.
