Biography

Dr. Christian S. Breburda is an internationally known expert for cardiac imaging with a special interest in device therapy in heart failure and bench mark lipid research. He received his training at Justus Liebig University and Max Plank Institute in Germany with a MD, PhD; his cardiology training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, Boston and advanced training as a Cardiovascular Imaging Fellow at Cleveland Clinic and UCSF. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Medicine both in the US and Europe, boarded in Echocardiography as well as Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography and European Society of Cardiology, a member of the American Heart Association, the Cardio Renal Society of America and International Association of Cardiologists. He directed academic echo-labs internationally, published multiple peer reviewed articles, two book chapters on 3D Echo and is scientific reviewer for several scientific journals (JASE, JACC, JNLA). He presented nationally and internationally over 200 invited lectures and medical grand rounds at leading medical institutions, clinical courses and scientific meetings. He held academic appointments as Assistant Professor at UW Madison WI, Associate Professor of Medicine at Tulane and is currently Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix, AZ. He also holds a US and European patent on cardiac strain imaging. He has a particular clinical and research interest in heart failure, Strain, 3D Imaging, Contrast Echocardiography and novel lipid particles research in collaboration with ASU. He is director of Noninvasive Cardiology & Imaging at Maricopa Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ. He has served on the AZ ACC executive board for the past 6 years and is the incoming President and Governor for the American College of Cardiology AZ.
