  The field of geriatric psychiatry poses unique challenges, one of which is the co-occurrence of panic attacks in elderly patients with depression. Panic attacks are sudden, intense surges of fear and anxiety, often accompanied by physical symptoms such as heart palpitations, sweating, trembling, and shortness of breath.
