Biography

Dr. Zaki Ahmad is a Professor Emeritus of King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He obtained his PhD from Leeds University, UK in metallurgy. He is an Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering department of Comsats Institute of Information and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He worked as a consultant to Razi Metallurgical Centre in Corrosion and Nano-technology in Iran. He also worked as a Professor in Sharif University Tehran Iran. He is a Chartered Metallurgical Engineer (C.Engg.) of the Engineering Council of UK and a Fellow of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). He is a member of European Federation of Corrosion and a Fellow of Institute of Metal Finishing, Nano Technology, Professional TMS member USA and member of International Society of Professional Innovation Management. He substantially contributed to the founding activities in material science, corrosion engineering and nanotechnology at KFUPM and in Iran. He founded centre of excellence labs at the Institute of Water and Energy at AMUT, Tehran, Iran. He worked on International projects on aluminum with Aluminum, Ranshofen, Austria and Forschungzentrum, Geethscht, Germany and with Metallgesselscheft, Germany and currently working with the University of Linkoping Sweden. He is a member of the board of directors and technical advisor of TEK-42 in Spain devoted to the implementation, research and development of emerging new technologies including nanotechnology and green materials. He is a founder contributor of Centre of Excellence of Corrosion at KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He initiated and developed nano technology in Saudi Arabia in 2002 and contributed to the development of centre of excellence in nanotechnology. He was a member of a committee to establish a nanotechnology program in KFUPM. He is the author and editor of five books published by Elsevier and In-Tech Europe. rated highly in the international institutions. He is on the editorial board of various International Journals. He introduced new programs in Nano Technology, Bio-nano Technology and Green Engineering at KFUPM, COMSATS Lahore and Imperial College Lahore. He has written over 120 research papers in international journals, several invited book chapters and over forty papers in international research conferences. He has been an invited speaker at several international forums. He is on the scientific editorial board of INTECH International. He has offered over thirty five short courses and workshops to industry in Saudi Arabia and Middle East. He was awarded the best research workers prize in Middle East by Energy Exchange in 2010. He was the group leader of material science at Forschungzentrum, Germany. He is a registered peer reviewer of Qatar Foundation of Research and Canadian Foundation for Innovation and Research. He was the principal investigator of several international projects with the University of Bremen, Germany; University of Pennsylvania, USA; Ministry of Technology, Germany; and Austrian Centre for Research , Vienna. His research activities include development of New Alloys, Nanostructured Superhydrophobic Surfaces, Nanocoatings, Nano Textiles, Corrosion Protection, Virus Control by Photocatalytic Reactions, Green Engineering, Waste Water Treatment using Aqua Nanotechnology, Design of Photo Catalytic Reactor for Removing pathogens, Emerging Technologies and Human Values.He is actively involoved in Innovation and creativity and working a program on the development of a sustainable innovative program to address poverty.

Dr. Zaki Ahmad is having research interest in High Strength Aluminum and high weight Al-Mg-Sc Alloys for Marine and Space Applications,Nanocoatings for green environment and structural integrity,Fabrication of innovative dust and water repellent nanostructured surfaces for harsh environment applications and renewable energy using nano technology, Fog-Water Conversion in Arid and Desert Regions and innovating water treatment,Sustainable and Eco-friendly material and design in housing construction, Innovation, Design and Human Values, Sustainable Drinking water Production for victims Natural Disasters and Innovative Supply Systems using nano technology, Novel water repellent Anti-bacterial and U.V protective textile, Storage of defense equipment using nanotechnology,Remediation of water by photocatalytic treatment and design of photocatalytic reactors.
