    The Major Barriers to Journalists in Contemporary Afghanistan

    Journalism and the media sector in Afghanistan has experienced the exponential growth since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001. Today the Afghan Media sector consist in dozens of TV channels, around 200 radio stations, hundreds of printed publications and almost 6 million internet users, while during the Taliban reign there was virtually no media, except of a single radio station. Besides that, Afghanistan is still one of the insecure countries for journalists across the world. Access to information and lack of experience are other obstacles that reporters suffer.
