Patrizia Burra graduated in Medicine at the University of Padua in 1984. She completed her residency in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Padua from 1984 to 1988. She spent three years (1988-1991) as visiting fellow at the Liver Unit and Liver Research Laboratories, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, United Kingdom as part of her PhD on Hepatology. She started her research activity on primary culture of human hepatocytes for the treatment of liver disease and then trained in Birmingham to become a transplant hepatologist. Her final degree of PhD in Hepatology was conferred in 1993 in Rome. She was appointed Teaching Professor of Gastroenterology, University of Padua in 1993 and since then her teaching activity has been devoted to the students of the Medical School, Post-Graduate courses, PhD courses and Master courses in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Regenerative Medicine and Liver Transplantation.
