Biography

Garcia SL is currently working at Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering
School of Chemistry, Complutense of Madrid University
Dr. Andrea García-Junceda graduated in Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2000. She obtained a Materials Engineering degree from the same university in year 2002. In September 2002, she joined the Materalia group in the Department of Physical Metallurgy at the National Center for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC), where she performed studies concerning the optimization of the mechanical properties of dual phase steels. During years 2004 and 2005 she was a visting scholar at the Arcelor Research center located in Metz (France). In January 2007, she presented her PhD thesis, related to the microstructural optimization of Dual Phase (DP) steels by modification in their processing route. Subsequently, she worked at the Metal Technology Center (CTM) in Murcia (Spain), where she carried out failure analyses and corrosion studies in metallic materials. In 2008, she joined the Structural Materials Division belonging to the Technology Department at the Research Center for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT). During the five years that she was working at CIEMAT, her major research areas were focused on the study and qualification of novel structural materials for their application in energy generation plants. Nowadays, she works as research associate at IMDEA Materials Institute for the characterization of innovative materials manufactured by a novel pilot line.

During her career Dr. Andrea García-Junceda has been involved in seven international projects and two national projects. She has published eleven scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and she has co-authored sixteen presentations in international and national conferences.
