Waseem Asghar, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Computer Engineering & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, and Department of Biological Sciences (Joint Appointment), Florida Atlantic University (FAU), USA. He received his Ph.D. in Spring 2012 from University of Texas, Arlington. Dr. Asghar held a postdoctoral appointment at Harvard Medical School and Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (July 2012-April 2014). Later he joined Stanford School of Medicine as Research Fellow before coming to FAU. He is awarded couple of prestigious fellowships including “IEngage Mentoring Fellowship” and “STEM Fellowship”. He is recipient of “Nanofab Best Graduate Student Award” for the year 2012. Recently, he is selected for 2015 FAU faculty mentoring award. His research focuses on a broad area of biotechnology including POC diagnostics, early detection of cancer at molecular and cellular scale, advanced reproductive technologies, and drug delivery. He has published his work at many prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Materials Today, NanoToday, Advanced Healthcare Materials, and Lab on a Chip. His research work was featured as journal cover images several times including Lab on a Chip and IEEE TNANO journals. He has published 23+ peer reviewed journal papers, 5 full length conference papers, over 15 conference abstracts, 2 book chapters, 1 patent disclosure. His research work has been highlighted by many premier magazines including Newsweek, Wired UK, and Popular Science.
