BA in Economics (1995) and PhD from the University of Oviedo (2003), it is Professor of Applied Economics (Treasury) at this university and now Secretary of the Department of Economics. His main areas of interest are the microsimulation tax reforms, economic applications of artificial neural networks and convergenciacompetencia of tax systems. He has published papers in scientific journals included in international databases (SSCI, Scopus) and Applied Economics, Economics Bulletin, Contemporary Economic Policy, Engineering Economics, International Research Journal of Finance and Economics, Lex Localis - Journal of Local Self-Government, Portuguese Economic Journal and Journal of World Economy among others, and has worked as an evaluator in several scientific journals. Editor Economics and Business Letters, is part of the Editorial Board of the magazines Economic Review, Journal of Global Economics and Lex Localis, and is Scientific Editor Innovation partner. He has conducted research projects for the Institute for Fiscal Studies, D'Economia Institut de Barcelona (IEB), the Banco Herrero Foundation, and within the Plan National R + D + i. He has conducted a research stay at the Institute of Fiscal Studies (2010). He has won the Award Pedrós Alexandre Financial Circle La Caixa (2011), the Second prize of the Basque Institute of Management Award Leizaola Jesus Maria (2004) Public and Young Investigator Award from the Spanish Association of Science Regional (2002).
