Abstract :

Statement of the problem: Zirconia implants are commonly less known implant solutions which have an estimated market of 1% which is still growing. In patients with thin gingival biotype Titanium implants can disturb mucosal natural color. Also, mucosal recession after implant insertion is reported to be as high as 38-57% after 6 months. In both cases of overtime mucosal recession and thin gingiva biotype ceramic implants, especially zirconia types, seem to be good choices. These implants have been introduced to the market relatively new so still long-term studies are needed to evaluate their outcomes. In this oral presentation, I tried to give an overview about these implants and review the new studies. Methodology: I searched PubMed and other databases for zirconia and ceramic implants. Presented studies are more important and worth of notice for further research topics. Recent Publication: Currently I have participated in three research projects which are on the way to publish. All three are in the field of joint reconstruction and in participation joint reconstruction research centre under supervision of Tehran University of medical sciences.

Biography :

Amirhossein is a 6th year medical student. Currently spending my pre-clerkship phase of medical study at Mazandaran university of medical sciences, sari. His main field of research is joint reconstruction. Ceramic prostheses seem to be the next generation of prostheses replacing metal on polyethylene prostheses. Ceramic implants seem to do the same in dental prosthesis. He is looking for opportunities to do research on these kinds of implants.
