Abstract :

Turmeric medicinal herbs with scientific name Curcuma longa belong to Zingiberaceae family. This study has evaluated anti- Alzheimer as well as antimicrobial effects of turmeric extract through amyloid nano-bio-fibrils formation inhibition method. Hydro-alcoholic extract of turmeric showed more microbial inhibitory effect (MIC) specially against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria because of they are Gram-positive bacteria and also increasing the extract concentration increases its killing power. Reduction of amyloid fibril information confirms anti-Alzheimer's property of turmeric. Generally, turmeric has proper antimicrobial effects with less side effects and cost than the other chemicals.
