Abstract :

Nowadays, the number of patients with ovarian cancer that need chemotherapy are significantly increased. This leads to the importance of budget planning for the nursing administrators, also the analytical research of cost is playing crucial role. This research is to study the actual cost of individual patient with ovarian cancer receiving chemotherapy treatment. The sample group consists of 14 personnel and 6 individually selected patients; with five specific research tools which are basic patient information, time, wage for personnel, medical tools and nursing dictionary. The model validity of research tools is 0.94 using descriptive statistics method. The research has showed that the average cost of individual patient is 5,847.87 Baht. According to the descending classifications of cost as follow the nursing activity during the chemotherapy is 3,994.51 Baht, the pre-chemotherapy nursing activity is 885.84 Baht, the activity of discharging individual patient is 773.43 Baht and the postchemotherapy nursing activity is 224.08 Baht. The research indicates that the cost of nursing activity is extravagant due to the requirement of experienced nurse and personnel.
