Abstract :

The aim of this study was to perform a diagnostic content validation of the defining characteristics and related factors of nursing diagnosis ineffective breathing - 00032 (Heather et al., 2009, p. 138) in the Czech nursing context. On the basis of expression of expert nurses caring for adult patients in intensive care or inpatient anesthesia workplace was performed. To assess the significance of diagnostic characteristics Fehring model of validation-DCV (1987, p. 3) was used. Validated diagnostic characteristics were divided into three categories: A ? major (weighted score significance ≥ 0.80), B ? minor (WS of 0.80 to 0.50) and C - insignificant (WS ≤ 0.50). The dependency rate between the diagnostic elements were determined by calculating Spearman correlation analysis. On the basis of the weighted score of 0.84 was into the category of major defining characteristics classified dyspnoe, 13 characteristics on the basis of the weighted score from 0.52 to 0.74 were identifying as the minor and 4 have already been identified as insignificant. The category of major related factor validated diagnosis was not included in any of the 18 observed, 14 related factors were on the basis of the weighted score from 0.55 to 0.78 included into the minor and 4 were identified as insignificant. A strong positive correlation was found between the defining characteristics "decreased expiratory pressure" and "decreased inspiratory pressure" (r=0.831) and between related factors "muculoskeletal impairment" and "neuromuscular dysfunction" (r=0.710), between "neurological immaturity" and " neuromuscular dysfunction "(r=0.732).
