Abstract :

Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects around 35 million Americans, and Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is estimated to cause up to 60% of IBS cases. Typical symptoms include significant daily gas/bloating/distention, belching and flatulence, chronic diarrea or constipation, and nausea and GERD. A very complicated condition, SIBO involves lack of adequate movement of the migrating motor complex nerve system, dysbiosis, intestinal inflammation and permeability, disaccharidase enzyme insufficiency, and often times biofilms need to be addressed. SIBO requires a deep understanding of the many facets of this condition and requires a multifactorial treatment methodology that is delivered by the practitioner in a step by step, organized, logical pathway. Mona Morstein is an expert on SIBO and will discuss SIBO touching upon all these aspects in a clinically applicable manner. Attendees will feel much more confident in effectively treating SIBO.
