Women's health indicators are measures which will be wont to reflect the state of health of girls during a particular peroid. Some women's health indicators (e.g., carcinoma incidence) are increasing in some developed and developing countries since the 1970s, coinciding with widespread changes within the global environment. Since most chronic diseases and disabilities occur in older women, in many respects women's health cares with older women. However, in developing countries, infectious diseases and maternal mortality remain high relative to those of industrialized countries. Since most of the world's women live in developing countries such as Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the impact of morbidity and mortality from these causes is significant from a global perspective. The Women's Health Initiative (WHI), which began in Fall 1993, is a 15-year, multidisciplinary trial that includes both dietary and chemo preventive interventions. The nutritional components of the WHI include the Low-Fat Dietary Modification Trial (20% of calories from fat) and therefore the Calcium/Vitamin D Supplementation Trial (calcium and vitamin D supplementation) for prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis.
