Urinary Tract Infections In STD's

STDs and urinary tract infections can often be confused with each other due to their similar symptoms. It is important to understand the differences between these two infections, as they differ greatly in terms of treatment and health risks, which means that sexually active people should get tested the same day when symptoms appear. of an STD.

The urinary tract is made up of the urethra, bladder, kidneys and ureter. Urinary tract infections occur when bacteria build up in one of these areas, normally affecting the bladder. These infections are quite common and although they cannot be transmitted directly, they can occur when bacteria pass through genital contact and the sexual partners do not empty their bladder immediately after intercourse.

The severity, symptoms and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases vary depending on the type of STD contracted. STDs can be transmitted through sex and other forms of sexual contact. Some STDs such as HPV can also be spread by mouth through non-sexual contact. STDs are normally transmitted from an affected person to a sexual partner, so sexually active people should request regular STD testing or same-day STD testing if the symptoms indicate an urgent need for medical attention.
