Bioinformatics is the science of retrieving, storing, and analyzing large amounts of biological information. It is a highly interdisciplinary field involving many different types of specialists, including computer scientists, biologists, molecular life scientists and mathematicians. As an interdisciplinary field of computer science, information engineering, mathematics, science, bioinformatics combines biology and statistics to analyze and interpret the biological data. Bioinformatics has been used for in silico analyses of biological queries using mathematical and statistical techniques. Important criteria of molecular approaches include phylogenetic resolution and potential to a large-scale screening. Application of comparative genome sequence analysis is essential for a better understanding of the genetic and epigenetic components of different bacterial taxa. Bioinformatics approaches in the search for natural products are a combination of molecular and chemical techniques.
